The Asia Cup is unlikely to be held in 2021:

Due to a packed cricket calendar, the Asia Cup is unlikely to take place this year, as Asian giants India and Pakistan fail to find a window for the tournament.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is trying to secure June 2021 as a suitable window for the tournament, which was postponed last year

The PCB, on the other hand, intends to schedule the remaining PSL 6 matches in the same window as India’s World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton, which will be held later in that month.

According to sources, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani told franchise owners at yesterday’s meeting that the Asian cricket event will not be held this year. Therefore, the window for completing PSL 6 might open in June. although India has hinted at sending their B team to the Asia Cup, but Pakistan does not want to compete with a weak squad.

Officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board believe that PSL is as important to Pakistan as the World Test Championship is to the BCCI. According to sources, the Asia Cup will now be held in 2023, with the ACC deciding the host city.

The franchises, on the other hand, urged the board at yesterday’s meeting to ask Cricket South Africa (CSA) to postpone the Pakistan series so that they can complete the league this month. One owner also proposed to reschedue the tour instead of canceling it, as cancellation would result in a financial loss.

The board members, on the other hand, were not willing to go that route because they believe South Africa aided them by sending their team to Pakistan. They did not want to lose to an already struggling South African board. Before worrying about the wellbeing of other boards, another team owner told the PCB to repair their own house.

According to a source, the proposed schedule for the remaining PSL matches will be submitted to the franchises this week and published once all parties agree to it.
