Pakistani Players in LPL 2021 │Lanka Premier League 2021 Drafts:

The drafts for the LPL 2021 season have been concluded. 10 Pakistani Players were picked in the draft in 4 different teams. Galle Gladiators had the highest percentage of Pakistani Players as compared to other sides. A major miss was Shahid Afridi, who represented Galle Gladiators last year but he will miss out the event this time. It is understood that Afridi has a busy schedule due to his foundation work and hence he will not participate in the event. Big names like Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Mohammad Amir were picked in the draft.

Galle Gladiators:

The Galle Gladiators have traditionally had the highest proportion of Pakistani players in the league. The reason for this is that the franchise is owned by a Pakistani, Nadeem Omar. Galle Gladiators will include Pakistani stars; Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mohammad Hafeez, Anwar Ali, and Mohammad Amir. Last year, Sarfaraz was also a member of the team, but he was unable to play due to national duty. All four cricketers have played in over 150 T20 matches in their careers, providing valuable expertise to the Galle Gladiators. Sarfaraz Ahmed provides the wicket-keeping advantage, and he was in outstanding form with the bat during the PSL 6 and the National T20 Cup 2021.

In the last two matches of Pakistan’s World T20 campaign, against Scotland and Namibia, Mohammad Hafeez was in outstanding form. Mohammad Amir has been out of play for some time, but prior to his injury, he was in excellent form in the Caribbean Premier League. Anwar Ali has been in incredible form, with some incredible finishes in Pakistan’s National T20 Cup 2021. Down the order, his strike rate is remarkable, and his bowling is an added bonus.

Colombo Stars:

Colombo Stars have selected opening batsman Ahmad Shahzad for the LPL 2021 season. Shahzad is one of Pakistan’s most seasoned T20 players. In over 100 T20 cricket matches, Shahzad has amassed over 6000 runs. His recent form was particularly impressive in Pakistan’s National T20 Cup, when he scored a lot of runs. Mohammad Irfan was another Pakistani selected by Colombo Stars. The tall left-arm pacer is now rather old, yet he was one of the most economical bowlers in the most recent PSL edition. Irfan gets extra bounce and pace to due to his massive height, making him a valued asset for any team.

Jaffna Kings:

In LPL 2021, Jaffna Kings selected the seasoned combo of Shoaib Malik and Wahab Riaz. The franchise decided to retain Shoaib. Jaffna is the defending champions, with Shoaib being named Man of the Match in the final which Jaffna won last year. Wahab Riaz is a relatively newcomer to Jaffna. Wahab had a fantastic PSL season, finishing as the second leading wicket-taker. Jaffna retained Usman Shinwari in addition to Malik and Wahab. With the new ball, Shinwari is an excellent pick. Despite the fact that he hasn’t played much T20 cricket recently and his form in PSL 6 was also questionable, Jaffna have opted to keep Usman.

Dambulla Giants:

Sohaib Maqsood was chosen by Dambulla. Sohaib was named Pakistan Super League 2021’s Man of the Tournament. Sohaib Maqsood made a lot of news after an outstanding run in Pakistani domestic cricket and the PSL. Sohaib has been striking the ball beautifully and is one of the most dangerous batsmen in the game today. Despite his injury worries, Sohaib is anticipated to be fully fit for the LPL.
