Pakistan Take a Big Dip in the WTC Points Table

Pakistan Take a Big Dip in the WTC Points Table:

After a defeat in the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka, Pakistan have fallen from the 3rd spot to 5th spot in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 Points Table. Sri Lanka have replaced Pakistan on the 3rd in the table. Sri Lanka outclassed Pakistan in almost every department to win the 2nd Test by a massive margin of 246 runs.

Pakistan’s spin bowling attack and batting lineup disappointed the fans big time. Pakistan currently have a win percentage of 51.85 in the Points Table of WTC 2021-23. Pakistan now have five Test matches remaining as part of their World Test Championship 2021-23 campaign. They will play 3 against England and 2 vs New Zealand, all at home.

Although many would suppose that they have good chances at home to win, but the situation is not that easy for Pakistan if they want to play the final of World Test Championship 2021-23. Even if they win 4 out of these 5 Tests, they will end with a win percentage of somewhere around 61. This is still on the lower side. The top 4 sides on the table; South Africa, Australia, Sri Lanka and India, all have a higher win percentage than 70. Pakistan would be relying on too many ifs and buts for featuring in the WTC 2021-23 Final, and that too if they win 4 out of their 5 home tests.

As of now, Pakistan need to figure out a better spin bowling attack, a more resilient batting lineup and also they have to pray that the results of other teams in WTC 2021-23 end up in their favor.
