Pakistan Qualify for The Semi Finals for the 5th Time in World T20 History:

After a big win against Namibia, Pakistan became the first team to qualify for the Semi Finals of ICC World T20 2021. On Tuesday, after the winning the toss, Pakistan decided to bat first as skipper Babar Azam stated that we wanted to test the strength of his batsmen. Pakistan started slowly but soon caught the pace. The opening stand was worth 113 runs and Pakistan were on their way to a big score. With fifties from the ever Consistent opening pair of Pakistan, and with Mohammad Hafeez coming back in form, Pakistan put up a total of 189 in their 20 overs. The total was great keeping the fact in view that the game was played in Abu Dhabi.

Namibia put up a fight but Pakistan’s bowling attack was just too much for them. Shadab, Haris, Imad and Hasan picked one wicket each as Namibia fell short by 45 runs and Pakistan punched their ticket to Semi Final. This is Pakistan’s fifth Semi Final appearance in 7 editions of World T20. Pakistan’s record in the shortest format is phenomenal and now the Men in Green would eye their second World T20 title. Pakistan still have one more game against Scotland now, in which they can test their bench strength.

Pakistan started the tournament brilliantly and they are well on their road to become the first Asian Team with 2 World T20 Trophies. They have been tidy in every department and this is probably Pakistan’s best shot at the trophy. Pakistan failed to qualify for the World T20 Semi finals in the previous two editions. The last time when Pakistan played a Semi Final of World T20, 15 out of the 18 members of the current squad didn’t even make their T20I debut at that time. Pakistan last played a Semi Final of World T20 in 2012. Pakistan are likely to face South Africa or Australia based on the current scenarios however the situation can change. Pakistan’s qualification rings alarm bells for India, New Zealand and Afghanistan as only one of them can qualify for the next round now.
