Legends League Cricket continues with another Thrilling encounter in Doha
The action of Legends League Cricket continued in Doha as the World giants led by Aaron Finch faced the Indian Maharajas led by Gautham Gambhir the second game of the Legends League Cricket Masters 2023 (LLC Masters).
After a close loss in the first game to the Asia lions the Indian Maharajas were in action again after less than 24 hours. The toss went the way of the World Giants and Captain Aaron Finch who decided to bat first. The captain started the innings with the Universe boss Chris Gayle however Chris Gayle was dismissed by Harbhajan Singh in the first over, Shane watson was the next man in and both him and Aaron Finch showed some great intent playing aggressively as the pair added 88 runs for the second wicket before Aaron Finch was dismissed by Pravin Tambe after scoring a half century. His innings of 53 runs in 31 balls included 7 fours and 3 sixes.
The Giants ended their innings with 166 on the board with Shane Watson being the leading scorer with 55(32) whereas Harbhajan Singh was the pick of the bowlers picking up 4 wickets in his 2 overs including 3 wickets in the same over.
The Maharajas got off to a strong start with the opening pair of Gautham Gambhir and Robin Utthapascoring 65 runs in the first six overs of the power play. However shortly afterwards Kevin O Brien got the wicket of Robin Utthapa and broke the opening partnership. The wickets continued to fall for the maharajas however their captain Gautham Gambhir kept going strong from one end and he reached his second consecitive half century of the tournament in just 28 balls.
The Captain played an impressive knock of 68 off 42 balls, including nine fours and one six before he was dismissed by the impact player of the World Giants Ricardo Powell. The game went right down to the wire as the Maharajas required 8 runs off the last over which were succesfuly defended by the Australian veteran Brett Lee and the Giants ended up winning a tight contest by 2 Runs. Captain Aaron Finch was awarded the player of the tournament award for his magnigicent knock which set up the path to victory for the defending champions World Giants.
