Is Shan Masood Underrated
Pakistani left-arm opener Shan Masood scored a knock of 156 against mighty England and it raised a question, is Shan Masood underrated.
Today Shan Masood became the first Pakistani opener since the legendary Saeed Anwar to score a century against England in England. This is a huge milestone for the left-handed batsman as he has been under great criticism since his return.
He led Pakistan to a total of 326 with the help of 2 partnerships with Babar Azam and all-rounder Shadab Khan. He was the second last batsman to leave the pitch when he got out on a beautiful delivery from Stuart Broad.
Yesterday’s century against England marked his 3rd consecutive hundred in test match cricket. In 2020, till now his batting average is an enormous 146 while in 2019 in which he played 11 games his average was 40.
Critiques will still be looking forward to a bad performance by Masood but now it depends on him to prove his worth and show his talent to the world and cement his place in the Pakistan international team.
His last tour in England did not go well when he kept getting out on James Anderson’s deliveries. Seeing him improve under Younus Khan who has helped the opener a lot when he was himself a player and now when he is his coach, he can see the improvement made by Shan Masood surely made the coach joyous.
