Highlights of Day 2 of National T20 Cup 2021 | Junaid Khan Brutalised:
The first encounter of Day 2 of National T20 Cup 2021 was between Sindh and Southern Punjab. After being put into bat first, Southern Punjab didn’t disappoint their fans. They took the all out attack route and smashed the highest total of the tournament. Southern Punjab were a happy unit as Aamer Yamin and Zeeshan Ashraf’s heroics allowed them to put up 175 on the board. Little did they know that a hungry Khurram Manzoor is waiting to eat their bowling attack alive.
Sindh did not look comfortable in the chase at all. They lost quick wickets, run out happened and all the time the required run rate was increasing. Khurram Manzoor never lost hope and kept on scoring runs. Khurram Manzoor shifted gears at the right time and got Sindh closer to the finishing line. Unfortunately, Khurram got run out, he missed his Century and couldn’t finish the game on his own.
did the finishing honours as he smashed 29 off just 9 deliveries and steered Sindh home. Khurram Manzoor was awarded Man of the Match for his 84(49).
Junaid Khan Brutalised:
Match 2 of the day began with two teams hungry for a win after a defeat in their first game. Balochistan were asked to bat first by Central Punjab. Balochistan once again similar to their first game lost quick wickets and their top order failed again. Thanks to 32(18) by Umaid Asif and 27(27) by Kashif Bhatti, Balochistan were able to put up 142 on board. The poor batting of Balochistan could be understood by the fact that Umaid Asif was their top scorer. Usman Qadir shined with 4/25 in his 4 over spell.
With the kind of star power possessed by Central Punjab, it looked like it would be an easy chase. But similar to Balochistan, Central Punjab’s batting line also collapsed except Babar Azam. Apart from Babar Azam, no one from the top 6 of Central Punjab could cross 15 runs. Hasan Ali then provided some support to his captain, but later both of them got out.
With 19 needed in 2 overs and just 2 wickets left, Junaid Khan proved to be the villain for Balochistan as he conceded all the runs remaining in the 19th over and Central Punjab won with an over to spare. Junaid Khan bowled 2 no balls in the 19th over. Wahab Riaz was the hero for Central Punjab as he scored 20(8). Skipper Babar Azam top scored with 59. Wahab Riaz was awarded Man of the Match.
