The PCB’s Disciplinary Panel suspended Umar Akmal from all forms of cricket for three years for failing to report a corrupt approach.

As part of the rehabilitation process that began last month, Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal has been granted the go-ahead to resume club cricket activities. In the entire procedure that has been completed to date, Akmal has admitted remorse, attended an anti-corruption lecture, and participated in a Q&A session conducted by the Security and Anti-Corruption Department.

He will be able to play in the Pakistan domestic cricket season 2021-22 once his rehabilitation program is completed, which is scheduled to be completed within the next month.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Disciplinary Panel suspended Umar Akmal from all forms of cricket for three years due to corruption charges.

However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport later reduced his term to 12 months and imposed a fine of 4.25 million Pakistani Rupees on him for violating the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Code.

Akmal was suspended for failing to report a corrupt approach prior to the start of the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The batter, on the other hand, claimed to have learned the proper lessons during this time.

He also apologized for bringing the sport of cricket in the country into shame.

“I committed a mistake 17 months ago that cost me my cricket and career. During this time, I learned a lot, and Pakistan cricket’s reputation suffered as a result of my error. “I beg forgiveness from the PCB and from cricket lovers everywhere,” Umar stated in a video issued by the PCB, as reported by Sportstar.

Umar Akmal, a Pakistan batsman, has played 16 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 84 T20Is for his country. His cricketing career, however, was put on hold as a result of the ban. He expressed his disappointment at not being able to play cricket and also stressed the need of reporting these incidents to the appropriate authorities as soon as possible.

” Despite being a cricketer, I couldn’t play. I, Umar Akmal, would want to request that all of you, as sports ambassadors, refrain from engaging in any dubious actions. If any suspicious people approach you, please report them to the anti-corruption unit as soon as possible so that your record and career remain clean,” Akmal had stated.
