Eoin Morgan to Quit Captaincy Soon | Who will be the New Captain?
England’s first ever World Cup winning captain is likely to give up captaincy. Eoin Morgan, who created history by leading his side to the first ever World Cup win is going through a rough patch nowadays. As reported by a leading website, it is highly likely that Jos Buttler might takeover and Morgan will quit captaincy. Since 1st July 2021, Eoin Morgan has not scored even a single half century in white ball cricket. He got dismissed on duck twice in two games against Netherlands after which he didn’t feature in the third ODI.
Jos Buttler was the one who took over the leadership charge after Morgan had groin issues in the third ODI against Netherlands. It is now expected that Buttler will be the one who will takeover the captaincy role if Morgan steps down. Another candidate is Moeen Ali.
Morgan has contributed a lot in England Cricket. Morgan is the most capped English ODI player with 225 appearances. No other England player has even featured in 200 matches. He’s also the all time highest run getter for England in ODI Cricket. He has had a phenomenal career for England, and it is expected that he might continue to feature as a player but not as a captain.
