Dream debut for Nauman Ali!

While Pakistan won the first test against SouthAfrica by 7 wickets with a stellar display of cricket that forced the win on just the fourth day, it was also a dream debut for the 34 year old Nuaman Ali who took a five-for in the second innings of the test and claimed 7 wickets altogether in his debut test match for Pakistan.

Captain Babar Azam applauded the great performance by the two spinners Yasir Shah and debutant Nauman Ali in a post match conference and said; 

“Debutants have pressure but he showed his experience. When partnerships were forming, him and Yasir broke them.”

With this outstanding performance by Nauman on his debut he set some pretty unique records:

• Oldest Pakistani spinner to take 5 wickets in an innings on Test debut.

• Oldest debutant to take a five-wicket haul in men’s Test cricket in 71 years & oldest spinner to do so in 87 years.

• First Pakistan left-arm spinner to take 5 wickets on debut.
