The defending Champions Multan Sultans faced Lahore Qalandars in the Qualifier of PSL 7. Multan Sultans finished the group stage at the top and they continued their dominant display in the Qualifier as well. They defeated Lahore Qalandars by 28 runs and became the first team to qualify for the final of PSL 7.
Lahore decided to bowl first, but failed to get many wickets as Multan finished at 163/2 in their 20 overs. Skipper Mohammad Rizwan scored a half century, while Rilee Rossouw was the star of the batting card of Multan Sultans with his brillaint 65(42). Aamer Azmat also played a great role with the bat scoring 33(22). Lahore Qalandars had a sorry looking scorecard with only Fakhar Zaman scoring more than 20 runs in the entire batting lineup.
From Multan Sultans, the bowling was dominated by Shahnawaz Dahani and David Willey. Dahani took 3/19 while David Willey took 2/23 to allow Multan restrict the Qalandars. This was a clinical performance by Multan Sultans while a typical old-fashioned performance by Lahore Qalandars. Shahanawaz Dahani was Man of the Match of this crunch and important qualifier.
Lahore are still not out from the final race, they will play the second eliminator. Multan Sultans now need just one more win to become the first team to successfully defend their PSL title or in other words, first team to win 2 consecutive PSL events.
