Speaking to the media, Head coach Misbah Ul Haq said that the conditions of the pitch and weather of the city of Rawalpindi are very different from Karachi and if that stays like that, changes in the starting Xi will be inevitable and the management will not shy away from doing so.
He further said that the pitch looks more pacer-friendly and this would influence their decision. Misbah then proceeded to gave an update on Haris Rauf and said that he is bowling exceptionally well in the nets and could be given a chance to play.
Speaking on fast bowlers, he also cleared up any confusion regarding Shaheen Afridi and said that he is not being overplayed and he is been taken care of very well and that right now he doesn’t require rest and if that would be necessary, they would do that.
Moreover, on the matter of pacers, he said that Hasan Ali should not be criticized as this was his first match back in the team and that he should be given some time because he is a full package for the team and would be extremely useful for the country.
Pakistan will play the 2nd and final test against South Africa from 4th February till 8th.
