Babar Azam set to play his first test as Captain.

Babar Azam the 5th ranked test batsman in the world, its set to lead his team for the first time in the pinnacle format of the game. He will be the 33rd Pakistani test captain. 

Babar Azam in tests:

He has played in 29 Test matches for his side so far and he will lead in his first test match against New Zealand on 26th December 2020. He has a total of 2045 runs in the long format, with an average of 45.4. He had taken 20 catches in total in test matches and is part of one run out on the field in this format.

Babar Azam’s most recent test scores are: 69, 5, 47, 11, 63* 

Babar Azam on becoming all format captain:

In a recent media conference at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Babar Azam the test captain of Pakistan spoke about his recent test form and said: “I was struggling in test but Mickey Arthur really supported me” 

He was asked about handling pressure and the responsibly of carrying the team; Babar spoke in response: 

“I like playing under pressure as it brings a lot of enjoyment to me but I give my 100% for the side.”

Team work makes the dream work:

Babar Azam is optimistic about the New Zealand tour and believes that his team is doing well at the moment. He said: “NewZealand are a good team but we are also doing well at the moment.”
