In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Karachi Kings star batsman Babar Azam expressed his desire to share the field with New Zealand’s prolific opener, Martin Guptill, during the remaining six HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season matches.

Guptill was selected by the Kings in the replacement draught a few weeks ago.

“I used to play in the Caribbean Premier League with Martin Guptill. We got along well, and it was fun to play with him. He is one of the best T20 batsmen in the world, and when he bats, he has the ability to completely change the complexion of the game. His power-hitting abilities are exceptional. “I will try to learn from his experience because learning never stops,” Babar said.

“We have high expectations for Sharjeel Khan. He struggled at the start of PSL 6, but then he hit an incredible century. “Players like him can change the game on their own,” he said. “I was very pleased to see that he had also worked very hard on his fitness.”

Babar was also upbeat about the Karachi Kings’ chances of retaining their title.

“We are optimistic [about defending the title] and would like to maintain our good form this season, as we are currently atop the table. There have been some changes to the team, but the replacements have been just as good,” he concluded.
