Babar Azam Creates World Record, Overtakes Kohli:

The Pakistani skipper, Babar Azam scored his 17th ODI hundred, at Multan in the first ODI against West Indies. Pakistan won the game quite comfortably by 5 wickets. Skipper Babar Azam was named Man of the Match but he gave his MOTM award to Khushdil Shah who finished the game brilliantly. The game was a record breaking one for Babar Azam, following are a couple of records that he made during the first ODI:

Fastest to 1000 Runs:

Babar Azam completed 1000 ODI runs as captain and it took him just 13 innings to do so. This is the new world record for the fastest to 1000 ODI runs as captain. Earlier this record was held by Indian Captain Virat Kohli who had scored 1000 ODI runs as captain in 17 innings, but now Babar has overtaken Virat Kohli.

Consecutive Centuries:

Another World Record that Babar Azam created was of scoring three consecutive hundreds in ODI Cricket on 2 occasions. He did it first in 2016 and now he has done it in 2022. Babar had scored 114 and 105* in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia and now he smashed 103 against West Indies in the first ODI. No batsman in ODI history has achieved this feat.

The 2nd and 3rd ODI will be played at the same venue on 10th June 2022 and 12th June 2022. Pakistan have a lead of 1-0 in the series.
