Babar Azam Creates Records, Wins Hearts as 2nd Test Ends in a Draw:

Pakistan Cricket Team managed to avoid a defeat in the 2nd Test against Australia after being bowled out in the first innings for just 148. Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique led the charge in the 2nd innings, and after their dismissal it was Mohammad Rizwan who continued to fight against the Kangaroos. Pakistan fought for five sessions to save this Test Match.

The highlight of the 2nd Test was Babar Azam who scored 196(425). This was Babar’s career-best score in Test Cricket. Although missing out on a double hundred was heartbreaking, yet Babar broke records with this innings. This innings of Babar Azam also earned him a well-deserved Man of the Match award, which was his first in Test Cricket.

Babar Azam’s 196 is the highest ever score in the history of Test Cricket by a captain in 4th Innings of a Test Match. Earlier this record was held by Michael Atherton who had scored 185* against South Africa in 1995. Another record was that Babar Azam became just the 4th Pakistani Captain to face 400+ balls in a Test Innings. In terms of minutes batted, this was the third longest innings ever by a Pakistani Captain in Test Cricket.

Babar is also the first Pakistani Captain to get out in the 190s, which is indeed an unwanted record on his resume. However this was the 7th Highest Individual score in Test Cricket by a Pakistani Captain. This Test Match was the extreme test of Babar Azam’s class, temperament and his grit and Babar proved to the world that he is indeed one of the best batsmen the game has ever seen.

The final Test Match of the 3 match series will be played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore beginning from 21st March 2022. The 3 match series is currently leveled at 0-0.
