Pakistan won the 2nd ODI against Australia by successfully chasing 348 at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. Pakistan created history registering their highest successful run chase in ODI cricket history. The stars of the show were Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam who scored hundreds. Skipper Babar Azam scored his 15th ODI hundred.
Babar Azam became the 3rd Pakistani batsmen to achieve the milestone of 15 ODI hundreds. Only Saeed Anwar and Mohammad Yousuf have done it before Babar Azam. At such a young age, the Pakistani skipper became the joint 2nd highest century maker for Pakistan in ODIs.
The run machine of Pakistan also broke the record of scoring most hundreds as Pakistani captain in One-Day Internationals. This was Babar Azam’s 4th hundred as captain in ODI cricket. His remarkable innings not only helped him create records, but also helped Pakistan to keep the series alive.
Pakistan chase 348 and it was their highest successful run chase in ODI cricket. Before this match, Pakistan’s highest successful run chase was 329 against Bangladesh. Another record that was broken was the record for the batsman with fastest to 9 ODI Centuries. This record was broken by Imam-ul-Haq who scored his second conscutive hundred in this series. Imam became the quickest to 9 ODI hundreds in just 48 innings. Before Imam, the record was held by Hashim Amla who had scored 9 ODI hundreds in 52 innings.
